Boy, it feels like ages since I last wrote a blog post. But like good aged wine, I hope my message has gotten better/clearer as a result. Hehe. It has been two and half years since I last shared my tricks of the trade with the world, but I’m happy to say: I’m back!
Just because I did’t talk about SEO all this time does not mean I left the industry. I say that because I was SHOCKED to learn how many people that I used to do a lot of SEO with have moved on to “greener” pastures. A ton of them left the internet marketing industry altogether while a few others went on to pursue something new and shiny.
But not me. In fact, these last couple years I’ve done more hardcore SEO then I ever did before. Meaning, I have a lot of first hand (up to date) knowledge/experiences to share with you. I promise you will not be let down!

On that note, here is something I’ve been wanting to say for a while now: I believe Bing is going to be making a decent comeback this year and into 2016 – largely thanks to Windows 10.
Allow me to explain:
Unless you live under a rock, you will have heard about the free upgrade from Windows 7 or newer to Windows 10 promotion Microsoft is hosting. Chances are you brushed it off like I did when you first heard about it. Who still uses windows, right?
Well, turns out, there are still significantly more windows users than Apple users. We’re talking millions more. Who would have thunk?
Apparently the majority of the ones that have taken Microsoft up on their offer and upgraded to Windows 10 have been nothing short of VERY impressed. And here is why it is so important: Windows (especially with this promotion) will regain fans. Lots of fans. Meaning Microsoft is going to be making a comeback. A big comeback. In fact, it already is!
Microsoft owns Bing. If you have looked at any of the later editions of Windows (especially Windows 10), you will notice how the entire system is basically rigged in Bing’s favor and it is very hard to switch the machine from using Bing for it’s searches instead of Google.
Sure, some of the techie people will figure it out, but I bet you a good 90% will just leave it as is and will faithfully do their searches through Bing instead.
I mean… seriously: Why Google it when you can just Bing it? Hehe… couldn’t resist!
Long story short, Bing is quickly becoming a free traffic source to be reckoned with. Hence, if your SEO is strictly Google based, you’re shooting yourself in the foot!
I never cared about Bing results before but I do now. Problem is – Bing is a beast I am no longer too familiar with. All I know at this point is that Bing is not as sensitive (yet) as Google is. And – my favorite part – they don’t release fury creatures like Google does (ex: Panda & Penguin updates).
So, ranking on Bing – once we figure it out again – should be a whole lot easier than ranking on Google.
Either way, I am still doing some experiments on this. I will keep you posted when I have more concrete results to share.
Stay tuned!
It’s exciting to see where this is going. It’s been months now and things are beginning to look better on Bing Webmaster. Have you seen any significant difference?
Actually, I have seen more traffic come from Bing recently again. Maybe it just helps that it’s easier to rank on there? I don’t know. Probably a bit of both.
Am not using Bing webmaster at all though… gots me curious now 🙂
