July 2016 Income Report

5 Aug

July-2016-Income-ReportI’m sitting at a cafe in San Miguel de Allende – a relaxed artistic town in Central Mexico – as I write this. I love this town. Which is why I am super excited that I managed to convince my wife to make this our home-base for the next 12 months.

Don’t get me wrong. I love traveling. I love exploring new places and getting to know new cultures, but part of me likes routine. Once I get to know a place and get into a routine, I don’t want to leave. Contrary to what our families like to think, it’s usually my wife – Regina – that pushes me to get out of my location comfort zones. And I’m grateful for it. It’s hard to grow as a person if you stay within your comfort zones.

Now that I am somewhat in a routine again I’m thinking of stepping up the writing on this blog again. My last post – Backlinks that Work in 2016 – was the first step in that direction, but I do have a lot of content (especially case studies) that I want to share with you. So stay tuned.

For now, let’s dive into July’s income and expenses. How did SEODagger.com do?

SEODagger.com Income for July 2016

IMPORTANT: I never include earnings from ventures unrelated to this blog. I own and am a partner in a bunch of online business ventures, but – for the sake of a fair case study – only earnings directly related to SEODagger.com will be noted.

The breakdown:

  • MyeCoverMaker$158.90
    • My highest month with these guys so far this year. I’m definitely very happy. Again, just a silly 3D eCover tool review I wrote years ago that – with a bit of optimization on my part – is ranking well on Google for all kinds of eCover maker related keywords. Meaning it gets a couple hundred targeted search engine visitors a month now. Not bad.
  • RankCrew: $10.00
    • Got $10 as a result of someone joining and depositing money on RankCrew using my affiliate link. Aside from the cash, I also got about $30 worth of advertising credits, which is pretty cool. I haven’t outsourced link building to RankCrew for a long time now except for when I get free advertising credits (like the $30 I got this month). Jonathan Leger – owner of Rank Crew – just did a complete overhaul of the members area and is offering some legit new services again, so I might take a more serious look at it soon here.
  • Source Market: $3.67
    • It looks like a few people ordered some gigs after clicking on one of the affiliate links on this blog and I – as a result – received a tiny commission. Yay.

That appears to be all. I’m sure there are a few dollars through youtube video ads, Amazon, etc but I don’t have tracking in place that would allow me to confirm either of those so…

Total confirmed income for SEODagger.com in July = $172.57 USD. That is exactly $3.31 less than my total income from last month.

I also got $30 worth of free advertising credits through RankCrew ($40 less than I got last month).

SEODagger.com Expenses for July 2016

The expense breakdown:

  • HostGator: $5.97
    • PLEASE NOTE: I have a dedicated server with HostGator that I have a bunch of my sites on. SEODagger.com is also hosted on that server, so I don’t actually pay HostGator $5.97 per month to keep this site running, but am simply noting that I would roughly pay that much per month if I were to host JUST this blog with them using their basic WordPress Hosting plan.
  • Press Release: $57
    • As I hinted at in my last post, I have had incredible success with press releases, which is why I went ahead and pointed a press release at my most profitable post on this site… the MyeCoverMaker.com Review post. The fact that June was the highest earning month for that post was a coincidence as I don’t believe the press release links have fully kicked in yet.

Total expenses for SEODagger.com in July = $62.97 USD

Conclusion

After all was said and done, SEODagger.com brought home $109.60 USD in July. As I always say: Not bad considering how little time I spent on it.

I noticed how the overall site authority has grown big time in the last few months. Meaning content starts to rank decently shortly after I hit the publish button (without any actual backlinks pointing to it).

I contribute this to two things:

  1. Backlinks I’ve been building to it.
  2. The fact that I still publish content somewhat regularly.

This also explains how the site went from 1 search visitor per day (average) three months ago to 16 or more search visitors per day today (average) according to webmaster tools.

It’s exciting to see this blog break through the initial barrier of becoming an authority site. This means things will only get better from here on out. Now I just need to publish more content on a more regular basis – which is something I plan to do more of starting this month – and the income will grow as well.

How was your July?

  1. Just found your site Konrad… pretty cool! Keep at it, I’m in the same boat… starting out and grinding away! I have one site that does pretty decent for the low amount of time I spend on it. Sounds like the same progression as you mention in this update… once it gains traction, it multiples potentially. It’t the hard work and commitment to keep at it for a few months, but once it’s rolling it’s easier.

Best of luck and wishes for success! Thanks for sharing!
